Penang International Halal Food & Heritage Festival (PIH2F)
Government-backed halal food and culture festival at the Esplanade — Jakim-certified SME food stalls, Islamic culinary heritage, and halal trade showcase in the heart of George Town.
The Penang International Halal Food and Heritage Festival (PIH2F) is a government-backed halal food and culture festival held at the Esplanade in George Town, organised by Jabatan Hal Ehwal Agama Islam Pulau Pinang (JHEAIPP) and Penang Halal International (PHI) with support from the Penang State Government. The festival focuses on micro-SME halal food producers and the halal trade, providing a platform for Jakim-certified food businesses to reach consumers directly. For visitors it is an opportunity to sample a concentrated range of halal-certified food products, traditional Malay and Muslim culinary heritage, and learn about Penang position as a halal hub in Southeast Asia. The inaugural PIH2F was held on 17-18 December 2022 at the Esplanade, officiated by Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow. The Esplanade location places the festival within walking distance of George Town heritage zone, making it easy to combine with a wider visit to the UNESCO district. For Muslim travelers from Indonesia, the Gulf, and the wider OIC region, PIH2F reflects Penang distinctive Muslim history and its growing halal economy.
