Digital arrival card

Foreign visitors register a Malaysia Digital Arrival Card (MDAC) online before arriving. It is free on the official Immigration site.

Indonesia's 2027 long breaks

From the joint ministerial decree (SKB 3 Menteri) on 2027 national holidays and cuti bersama, published 15 September 2026. The weather side: December to March is Penang's driest stretch.

Lebaran: 6–15 March 2027

Nyepi (8 March), cuti bersama on 9, 12 and 15 March and Idulfitri on 10–11 March run together with two weekends into a ten-day break. Hari Raya Aidilfitri is a public holiday in Malaysia on the same days, so Penang is in festive mode too.

Iduladha and Waisak: 15–20 May 2027

Iduladha (17 May), cuti bersama on 18–19 May and Waisak (20 May) make six days in a row from the weekend of 15–16 May.

Easter: 25–28 March 2027

Cuti bersama on Thursday 25 March, Good Friday on 26 March, then the Easter weekend: four days.

Imlek and Christmas: three-day weekends

Imlek falls on Saturday 6 February 2027, with cuti bersama on Friday 5 February. Christmas falls on Saturday 25 December, with cuti bersama on Friday 24 December.

A note on cuti bersama

The government notes that cuti bersama reduces annual leave for private-sector workers, under each company's rules. Check with your employer before planning around it.

Ramadan in Penang

Ramadan 2027 is expected to run from about 8 February to 9 March, subject to moon sighting. Our Muslim-friendly honeymoon page covers halal dining, prayer facilities and Ramadan in Penang.

What are the longest holiday breaks in Indonesia in 2027?

Under the SKB 3 Menteri for 2027, the Lebaran period gives ten days in a row (6 to 15 March, including Nyepi, Idulfitri, cuti bersama and two weekends), and Iduladha plus Waisak give six days (15 to 20 May). Cuti bersama is deducted from annual leave for many private-sector workers.
