Tucked at 5 Lebuh Keng Kwee — right beside the legendary Penang Road chendul cart — this Bib Gourmand stall serves one of George Town's best bowls of asam laksa. It's the classic Penang version: thick rice noodles in a tamarind-sour, fish-based broth, brightened with finely cut cucumber, onion, pineapple, mint and a spoon of shrimp paste. Run by owner-chef Leow Woo Taid alongside his mother, it pairs perfectly with a chendul from the cart next door. Pull up a stool and slurp it down between sights in the heritage core.
