Moh Teng Pheow is one of George Town's last traditional Nyonya kuih makers, working since 1933 and now recognised with a Michelin Bib Gourmand. It's tucked away with its entrance off Jalan Masjid, near Lebuh Chulia, where you can often see the kuih being made by hand in the back workshop. The founder, Moh Teng Pheow, came from Hainan as a teenager and learned kuih-making from a local Nyonya before taking over her trade. The counter carries more than twenty kinds of Peranakan kuih — soft, fragrant and lightly sweet — best eaten the same day.
