Live Music Scene
Penang's live music is small-scale and changes often: bands rotate between bars, and gigs are mostly announced on venues' own social media rather than in any central listing. This page used to name several venues we could not find anywhere, so we removed them. What is left is the venue we could document with a recent, dated source.
For bigger shows, the George Town Festival and other events bring outdoor and ticketed performances to the city. See the links below.

The Canteen at ChinaHouse
The bar at the Victoria Street end of ChinaHouse, and George Town’s best-documented live-music room. Time Out describes nightly acts ranging from jazz and soul to R&B and indie.
